Big and Bold Jewelry at the 2017 Oscars

As we all know, the best is always saved for last. We don’t just mean the Oscars, the king of all awards shows, but the jewelry worn at this coveted event. The stars have been upping their game with each passing awards ceremony, but the Oscars jewelry most definitely takes the cake. Though the themes were similar to what we’ve been seeing lately, it was all done on a much larger scale. Bigger, bolder, and more colorful are just some of the noteworthy details regarding the sensational jewels spotted on the red carpet. From sharp chokers to cascading chandelier earrings to fairytale-like headbands, the celebs were covered in shimmering gems and metals fit for a queen.

Charlize Theron in Show Stopping Chopard Earrings

The enormous diamond Chopard chandelier earrings that dangled from Charleze Theron’s ears beneath her slicked back hair were reminiscent of Angelia Jolie’s iconic emerald Lorraine Schwartz earrings worn at the 2009 Oscars because of their undeniable grandeur and exquisite contrast with her gown. Jolie’s earring went down as one of the most expensive jewels ever worn at the Oscars with a price value of $2.5 million. Charlize’s earrings were close contenders with 59.9-carats worth of diamonds set in 18K white gold, including a D-flawless 25-carat pear-shaped diamond and a D-flawless 26-carat heart-shaped diamond.

Karlie Kloss Stuns in Diamond Nirav Modi Choker

There is no doubt that this blonde bombshell looked phenomenal in her floor-length, half-cape white gown, but it is questionable whether it was the dress or the massive floral-themed diamond choker upon her neck that stole the show. Either way, Karlie Kloss gave the crowd plenty to talk about, and it had nothing to do with boyfriend Joshua Kushner, brother of Jared Kushner.

Janelle Monae’s Astounding Choker and Headpiece

An entire book can be written on Janelle Monae’s gown alone. Between the unusual design, intricate detail, and textured materials, it absolutely oozed personality. However, that of course was not enough for Janelle, as she adorned herself with an eye-catching choker and headpiece as well. Though the neckpiece was bejeweled and the headband was covered in colored stones, the “real” jewels were the smallest, yet most precious of them all. These of course were the diamond earrings, which consisted of canary yellow diamonds, colorless diamonds, and champagne diamonds that highlighted the yellow coloring in the dress.

Chrissy Teigen’s Shoulder-Grazing Lorraine Schwartz Earrings

Chrissy Teigen had so much going on at this year’s Oscars it’s surprising she managed to pull it all together. From her bright red lips to her lace-topped gown to her thigh-high slit to her pulled-back hairstyle, Chrissy managed to rock every aspect of her look. This of course includes her extremely long Lorraine Schwartz earrings that gently grazed her shoulders and moved in an almost hypnotic manner.

Ruth Negga’s Ruby Tiara

With all the amazing jewelry at the Oscars it is easy to skip some important pieces, but it is impossible not to mention Ruth Negga’s ruby tiara by Irene Neuwirth. Negga added instant glamor to her short locks by wearing this ruby-studded headpiece, complementing her crimson lips (and gown) to perfection.

It is simply mind-boggling to try and list all of the exceptional jewels displayed at this year’s Oscars. Many will be remembered by their revolutionary styles while others will be recalled thanks to the beauties that wore them. There will of course be those jewels with the highest price tags that will be written down alongside their predecessors as some of the most expensive Oscars jewelry of all times. Priyanka Chopra’s $3.2 million Loraine Schwarz earrings, Nicole Kidman’s $7 million L’Wren Scott necklace, and Charlize Theron’s $15 million Harry Winston necklace are some of the current titleholders on the list that will continue to grow with each passing year.
