The Most Expensive Pen

Pens have taken on a much larger role other than simply being a means for writing.  In fact, some pens can go into the tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars.  From fountain pens to ballpoint pens, these seemingly mundane items become objects of desire, especially when adorned with stunning white stones or even fancy colored diamonds

Diamonds have found their way to many trivial items such as shoes and bags; however, this specific useful accessory is in a different ballpark.

Jeweled pens come in a wide range of colors and styles as well as prices.  For those with a low budget, pens studded with rhinestone or semi-precious stones will have to do.  They come in an array of colors, making them suitable for women, men, and even children.  The more expensive and sophisticated selection of embellished pens though, display real diamonds and can be made from gold.

Some pens are so lavish that they have been named the world’s most expensive pens.  Here are some of them:

The Mystery Masterpiece is one of the most expensive pens ever made. The pen, which premiered in February of 2006, is made of white gold, adorned with rubies, emeralds, and sapphires, and is accented with diamonds. 840 diamonds and over 20 carats of gemstones are displayed on this exaggerated piece.

The Lamodernista Diamonds Pen is another pricey pen, which made it into the Guinness Book of World Records in 2001. The structure is made from rhodium-coated gold and is covered with 5,072 Wesselton diamonds coming to a total of 20 carats.  In addition, 96 rubies are dispersed upon the gorgeous pen.

The Limited Edition Boheme Papillon Pen was created in tribute to the butterfly, which is one of nature’s most beautiful creatures. The pen, made from gold, comes in several gold colors including white gold, yellow gold, and rose gold. The Boheme Papillon is studded with 1,400 diamonds and sapphires.

The Prince Rainier III Limited Edition Pen is a fountain pen made from 18kt white gold and adorned with 996 diamonds and 92 rubies.  An additional 19 rubies decorate the cap clip and two rubies can be found on the 18kt gold nib.

Although pens accompany us throughout our daily life, they can also be an additional piece of jewelry to flaunt.  As beautiful as the above pens are, what would make a pen even more impressive would be colored diamonds.  After all, diamonds are one of the strongest substances in existence, virtually indestructible, and there is no replacing the sparkle that a diamond exudes.  Having the rainbow of colors come from colored diamonds instead of other gemstones would make the pen even more unique and special.
