The Sultan of Brunei’s Son’s Spectacular Wedding

For most people, weddings are the time to splurge, but if you just happen to be the Sultan’s son, we are talking about a whole new level of indulgence. Although extremely excessive, the amount of jewelry seen at the wedding doesn't come as such a surprise as the Sultan is one of the largest color diamond purchasers.

The Sultan of Brunei’s son, Prince Abdul Malik, aged 31, has just wed 22-year-old Dayangku Raabiatul Adawiyyah Pengiran Haji Bolkiah at what was probably one of the world’s most lavish weddings. From a bouquet made from jewels to crystal-studded shoes and emeralds as large as quails’ eggs, this wedding made even some of the top celebrities’ weddings pale in comparison.

The Ceremony

The religious wedding ceremony of Prince Malik took place at the Sultan’s 1,788-room palace in the Brunei capital of Bandar Seri Begawan. Both the bride and groom wore matching gold outfits embedded with genuine diamonds. The two were seen praying, while seated side by side, along with all of the wedding attendees.

Crystal Studded Shoes

As if her diamond-studded gold attire wasn’t enough for the ceremony, the bride wore none other than crystal-encrusted Christian Louboutin heels. Her pumps peeked out from beneath her golden gown as she rested them upon the, what appeared to be, upholstered golden stool. Additionally, a pure gold chunky bracelet encircled her ankle for yet another touch of royalty.

Gems Galore

Almost every bride carries a bouquet. In order to stand out, some brides go for more exotic and expensive flowers. This bride took the bridal bouquet even further by having it comprised completely from gemstones. The blushing bride must have a soft spot for precious gemstones as they seem to have found their way to many of her accessories. From the diamond and emerald tiara, necklace, bracelet, brooch and ring worn during the ceremony to the diamond and ruby necklace, crown, and brooch worn to the wedding banquet, no part of the bride’s ensembles was left undecorated.

It is safe to say that this wedding was one-of-a-kind. After all, who else gets married through an eleven-day celebration with thousands in attendance, not to mention at a residence with a 110-car garage, 257 bathrooms, 1,788 rooms, and 5 grand swimming pools? Well, when you are the youngest child of one of the richest men in the world, and second in line of succession to become the next Sultan of Brunei, it can be expected. One thing is for certain though; the bar for the bride’s first anniversary gift has been set pretty high. The future Sultan better come through with something fabulous that will top the phenomenal jeweled items showcased throughout the royal couple’s wedding celebrations.
